The ACHIEVE study, short for the Aging and Cognitive Health Evaluation in Elders

This represents a substantial randomized controlled trial aimed at investigating whether addressing hearing impairment in the elderly population can potentially mitigate the onset of cognitive decline, which is often a precursor to dementia. In addition to examining cognitive health, the ACHIEVE study delves into various other health-related aspects, encompassing mental well-being, physical functionality, and healthcare utilization.
Among older adults with a heightened risk of cognitive decline, interventions for hearing demonstrated a notable 48% deceleration in the rate of decline in thinking and memory abilities over a span of three years.
